Virgins

Hey, so I've been stretching my wings a bit and doing some commercial jobs. Though it doesn't allow for quite as much creative freedom as independent films, I'm having a pretty good time with it.  I guess I've been really lucky to get hired by some awesome folks.

Here's a spot I Art Directed for Virgin Mobile that hit the air on Thursday.

You can find the other 3 here on Youtube.

Paint

I am loving these works by Sharon Horvath.

I've never had much luck with painting, but these make me want to try again.

Composite Portraits

Inspired by these composite images of magazine covers, I've started using a similar technique to create these portraits. I'm really liking the effect so far. Though I must admit, it still feels very trial and error.

Space Rocks!

This came out of nowhere.

I am now a card carrying owner of my own business card.

Bam! I design business cards now.

I'm suddenly a total business woman.
And I design them for others too. Here the one I made for Filmmaker Coral Aiken:

get them while they're hot....

La Revue, in Review.

I was sitting at my computer capturing images from the La Revue, the film by Coral Aiken and Eve Majzels that we shot in Winnipeg Last Summer, for Coral's business card when I found this.

I'm not normally that into this kind of kaleidoscopic effect, but with these colours and the deep blacks of the floor, the reflection makes the whole thing look glassy. And the background is just insane. Maybe I'm just excited to see Danielle Morgan (the Cinematographer) and Katherine Scharhon (the star in the foreground) in New York this weekend. Or maybe I'm just trying to distract myself from last night's election results. Either way, this picture rules.
